Be seduced by the object of your desire in an early 1980s
peep show booth
and find out what – and who! -- you really want.
ALONE AT LAST is an interactive video installation by Pat Ivers
and Emily Armstrong exploring issues of gender & sexuality
in the years just before the AIDS crisis devastated
lower Manhattan’s creative community.
The installation was conceived in 1981 as an interactive video experience
exploring freedom of expression and the pursuit of pleasure and fantasy
at a time when traditional views of sexuality were being
challenged and overturned.
Pat Ivers and Emily Armstrong’s GoNightclubbing Archive
definitive visual record of the Punk scene
in 1970’s Downtown New York.
Described by The New York Times as
“the Lewis and Clark of rock video”
the two video artists spent their nights
from 1975-80 documenting the cultural
scene that exploded in nightclubs
around New York City.
The GoNightclubbing Archive
unparalleled collection of 82 bands
videotaped during 112 performances,
27 on-camera interviews, and a remarkable
assortment of music videos, video art,
thousands of photographs, video DJ reels,
and hundreds of pages of ephemera
chronicling the late 70's punk scene.
Challenged with presenting such a large
collection to their audience, the artists
have created a multi-faceted, multi-media
exhibition of video screenings, photo galleries,
live talks and video installation that distills the
very best of the GoNightclubbing Archive.
GoNightclubbing: A Modern Punk History
is available for presentation by museums
and other art institutions.
Video performances from the Archive can be licensed from
GoNightclubbing, Ltd. and photos are available for purchase.
